Raipur: Chhattisgarh assembly today witnessed
uproarious scenes with the opposition Congress demanding the
government respond to the charges that members of Bajarang Dal
and Dharmasena behaved indecently with some women celebrating
Friendship Day on Sunday.
Congress members raised the issue during the question
hour and alleged the government was protecting the guilty.
Speaker Dharam Lal Kaushik appealed for calm but to no
avail and Congress members continued to shout slogans which
prompted him to adjourn the proceedings for ten minutes.
Later, on resumption, Home Minister Nanki Ram Kamwar said
five persons were arrested in connection with Sunday`s
incidents while ten policemen have been suspended for showing
lapse in duty.
However, Congress members were not satisfied with the
reply. They charged the government was not serious about
safety of women and walked out of the house again.
