C’garh: 10 held for abduction, murder of student

Ten persons were arrested in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of a student for ransom in Janjgeer Champa district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

Korba: Ten persons were on Friday arrested in
connection with the alleged abduction and murder of a student
for ransom in Janjgeer Champa district of Chhattisgarh, police
said.

The victim identified as Dilip Kumar Sahu, a class X
student of Sanskar Bharti Vidyalaya in Amgaon, went missing on
March 19 while returning home after appearing for exam, they
said.

As Dilip did not return home even after nine days
since he went missing, his parents lodged a complaint in
Jaijepur police station.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons called Dilip`s
landline and demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh which was later
brought down to Rs 5 lakh and then to Rs 1 lakh, police said.

In the meantime, Dilip`s father Phoolsinh Sahoo
received a call, allegedly from one of the abductors, asking
him to drop a bag containing cash of Rs one lakh near a
culvert on the outskirts of Odekera village.

However, even after Phoolsinh dropped the bag his son,
did not return following which he approached the police who
traced the mobile number from which the call was made and
nabbed 10 persons, including five friends of the victim.
