Driver and cop injured in Naxal blast

Raipur: Two persons including driver of a police van and a police officer were injured when Naxalites triggered a landmine blast in the vehicle carrying police personnel in Konekode village in Bastar district.

Additional Director General of Police Ramnivas said, "The Naxalites used landmine explosives to trigger a blast on the police van leaving the driver injured. The van was carrying police personnel from Antagarh to Kodagaon, who had come to provide security for the Bastar bypolls. The blast left some minor dent on the vehicle."

The injured was rushed to a nearby hospital and is now stable.

Ramnivas said that a police officer was also injured in the incident. "ASI Lokesh Patel, who was passing by, lost control of his motorcycle and collided against a tree. He was also hospitalised."

ADG said that the police have launched a search operation for the Naxalites behind the blast.
