Raipur: A police jawan, who was abducted by Naxals two days ago, was found murdered on Wednesday in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district.

The body of 31-year-old assistant constable Pandu Ram Kudiyam was found on a road under Farsegarh Police Station limits, near the place from where he was kidnapped on Monday, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police, Indira Kalyan Elesela said.

Soon after getting information that the body was lying abandoned on the road that passes thorough a restive dense forested patch, security forces were rushed to the spot to recover it, he said.

On Monday, rebels had abducted Kudiyam while he was returning from Palmendri village after attending last rites of her mother-in-law.

Preliminary investigation found that he was killed with sharp edged weapons, the ASP added.

A case has been registered in this connection, the ASP said, adding that a hunt has been launched to trace the assailants.

On July 14 this year, four assistant constables were kidnapped by Naxals and killed next day in Bijapur district.

Similarly another assistant constable was abducted in Sukma district of the state last month but was released later.
