Maoist cadre arrested from Kanker district of Chhattisgarh

A Maoist cadre was arrested from insurgency-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Friday, police said.

Raipur: A Maoist cadre was arrested from insurgency-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on Friday, police said.

Naresh Usendi (18) was apprehended from Edanar village forests under Tadoki police station limits, Kanker Superintendent of Police RN Dash told PTI here today.

A joint squad of the local police and the Border Security Force (BSF) carrying out search operation in the Tadoki forests, around 250 km away from the state capital, spotted a suspect near Edanar and rounded him up after a chase, the official said.

During interrogation, he admitted of being involved in the outlawed Maoist movement as a local village level member, Dash said, adding, he was involved in criminal offences, including attempt to murder and attacks on security forces in the region.
