Raipur: Chhattisgarh government has asked its officers to refrain from attending public programmes, including inaugurations, as chief or special guests.
A circular to this effect was recently issued by the General Administration Department following several complaints in this regard.
The officers have also been asked not accept honours and felicitations in such programmes, the circular said.
The programmes barred for officials include public functions, inauguration of official buildings, bridges, or roads or foundation stone laying ceremonies.
The circular has also said the responsibility of spouse of a government official participating in such programmes too would rest with the official only.
If an officer is to be felicitated for any extraordinary work done by him or her, prior permission from the government is to be obtained as per the civil services norms, it added.
However, the officials may participate in workshop or symposiums related to their work.
The circular has warned the officers of strict action if the norms are flouted.
