One pilgrim killed, three injured in Chhattisgarh ropeway mishap

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital where one woman succumbed to injuries.

Raipur: One pilgrim was killed and three others injured when a ropeway trolley carrying four people fell in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon District on Monday. The ropeway ferries pilgrims to the Bamleshwari Temple atop a hill from the base.

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital where one woman succumbed to injuries.

Around 20 people were stuck midway in other cable cars following the mishap and had to be rescued after three hours.

As per preliminary investigation, the cable wire suddenly came off the pulley when four trolleys were landing at the base of the hill.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh for the deceased woman.
