Senior SAIL official commits suicide at his residence in Chhattisgarh​

The Assistant General Manager of Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Bhilai Steel Plant allegedly was on Wednesday found dead at his residence in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, police said.

Raipur: The Assistant General Manager of Steel Authority of India's (SAIL) Bhilai Steel Plant allegedly was on Wednesday found dead at his residence in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, police said.

Vipin Raut (52) was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his residence in Bhilai area under Bhatti police station limits this afternoon, a senior police official told a news agency.

He was the Assistant General Manger of BSP's wire rod mill.

The incident came to light when Vipin did not respond to repeated knocking at his door.

Later, his family members informed the Bhatti police station after which police rushed to the spot and discovered his body from the ceiling fan, the police official said.

No suicide note was found at the spot, he said.

A preliminary investigation showed Raut had suffered from some kind of illness for a long time which prompted him to take such an extreme step, he said, adding the exact cause behind the incident would be known only after an elaborate investigation.

A case has been registered in this connection, the police official said.
