Ten dead, 6 injured as bus rams into bridge railing in Chhattisgarh
Ten persons, including three women and two children, were killed and six others were critically injured after the passenger bus they were travelling in crashed into railing of a bridge in the district on Monday, police said.

The incident occurred near Madanpur village under Morga police outpost on Ambikapur-Bilaspur NH-111, said Korba Additional Superintendent of Police Lal Umed Singh.
As per the preliminary investigation, the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle near Bahni nullah and it hit the railing, the officer said adding that the impact shattered the windscreen and window glasses of the bus, due to which some passengers fell off the bridge while the bus was left hanging.
At the time of the mishap, around 35 passengers were onboard the bus that belongs to a private agency- Hindustan Travels. It was heading towards Korba from Surajpur, Singh said.
He said all the victims died on the spot while the injured were shifted to a local hospital in Korba.
The deceased have been identified as Baliram (60), his son Sukhlal (40), Nirmal Khute (32), Shanti Bai (32), Faleshwar Yadav (30), Mahaveer Prasad (57) and Pushpa Banjare (30).
A woman identified as Parvati Sahu (30) and her two minor daughters- Muskan (11) and Chanda (7) were also killed in the mishap, the ASP said.
Six critically injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Korba district hospital, he said.
The driver of the bus fled from the spot after the incident and efforts are on to trace him, the ASP added.
A case has been registered in this connection and further probe was on.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Raman Singh offered his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The Chief Minister has directed Korba district administration to provide best possible assistance to the kin of the deceased and medical care to the injured.
