Two Naxals held in Chhattisgarh

Two Maoists were arrested during an anti-naxal operation in insurgency-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh Monday, police said.

Raipur: Two Maoists were arrested during an anti-naxal operation in insurgency-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh Monday, police said.

The cadres were arrested from the restive forest under Jangla police station limits of the district, a senior police official told reporters.

A team of local police were combing the forest of Potenar and Tungali under Jangla region, located around 400 kms away from the state capital Raipur, since last evening when they spotted the two suspects.
The duo tried to flee from the spot on seeing the police personnel near Tungali village but they were chased and nabbed, the official said.

Those arrested were identified as Anil Kunjam (22) and Chamru Kosa (24), he said, adding that they were involved in several incidents of crime in the region.

Their interrogation is on, he said.
