Raipur: Two naxals carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 each on their head surrendered in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday, police said.

Naxal Sukhdas (40) and Keshu (40) laid down their arms at the district headquarters.

Both the outlaws had joined the naxal movement in 2008 and used to work for their area commanders. Later in 2010, Sukhdas was promoted as the head of Sonpur Dandkaranya Kisan Mazdoor Sanghatan while Keshu was made the Sonpur Militia Commander.

Both are involved in several cases including those of murder and Maoist attacks on security personnel in Chhattisgarh.

Disillusioned with the naxal ideology and treatment met out to them by Andhra Maoist leaders, the duo decided to surrender, police said, adding that the two will be facilitated into the mainstream soon.
