Raipur: Two security personnel were injured on Saturday when Naxals attacked them in Chhattisgarh's insurgency- hit Narayanpur district, officials said.

"The Naxals carried out an attack near the 9th battalion of the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) at Kurrajohar village in Narayanpur district in which two assistant platoon commanders, Vinod Mishra and Narayan Kushawaha, sustained injuries," Chhattisgarh's Special DG for Naxal Operations D M Awasthi told PTI.

"There is a CAF camp in that area. The two assistant platoon commanders had gone to a walk in the vicinity without carrying their weapons when the Naxals attacked them," the officer said.

According to Awasthi, extra forces have been rushed to the spot and the injured will be airlifted to Raipur for providing better treatment.

"We have launched a manhunt to trace the ultras involved in the attack," he added.
