Two ultras held, Naxal couple surrenders in Chhattisgarh

Naxal Madkam Lachha (40) was apprehended today by a joint squad of CRPF and district police from restive forest of Chhote Bedma under Kuwakonda police station limits of Dantewda district, around 450 kms from the state capital, Dantewada SP Kamlochan Kashyap told PTI.

Janmilitia commander in Malangir area committee of the outlawed CPI(Maoist), Lachha was involved in number of attacks on security forces since 2009 in the region. Besides, cases of loot, arson, murder and damaging government property were also registered against him.

In another incident, Maoist Suraj Korram (30) was nabbed from his house in Chhote Usri village under Mardapal police station limits of Kondagaon district by a squad of district police yesterday, Additional Superintendent of Police Surjit Atri told PTI.

A 5-kg tiffin bomb was recovered from his possession.

Korram was involved in attack on police party in Ehkali-Hadeli village forests in August this year in which a police constable was killed. Several other criminal cases were also registered against him, the ASP said.

Meanwhile, a Maoist couple surrendered before police citing disappointment with the exploitation of women and lower rung cadres by senior leaders in Dantewada, SP Kashyap said.

"Barsoor local guerilla squad commander Sudram alias Bhadru (27) and his wife Parwati (26), a member of the same outfit, surrendered this afternoon," he said.
