Raipur: A woman Naxal was arrested after a gun battle between ultras and police in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The cadre was apprehended from Khadka village forests under Kanker police station limits yesterday while she was trying to flee after the face-off, the senior police official told a news agency.

A joint team of district police and Border Security Force (BSF) was on a routine patrol in the forest, around 35 kms away from Kanker town, when they saw a group of armed ultras at Korar and Amabeda junction, he said.

After a brief exchange of fire between the two sides, the rebels escaped into the core forest, he said.

"No harm was reported from either side," the official said.

Meanwhile, the woman rebel was arrested from the spot and a rifle and a country-made gun were seized from her, he said adding that she was being interrogated.
