New Delhi: With the national carrier Air
India announcing special packages to attract passengers, the
government has asked all its officials to take advantage of
the concessional airfares.
With the government officials being asked to travel only
by Air India for official work, the Finance Ministry issued an
office memorandum asking all ministries and departments to
"avail these concessional facilities being offered by Air
India to (the) Government of India."
The national carrier is offering four super-saver ticket
booklets in economy class at Rs 26,816 on domestic routes.
Under the scheme, the airline is offering a reduction of
around Rs 2,000 on coupon ticket of 4 and 8 on Economy-Class
travel.
Similarly, for executive-class travel, the discount would
be around Rs 3,000 per coupon ticket.
In July this year, the Finance Ministry had said all air
travels on official account, both domestic and international,
must be done through the national carrier only, virtually to
provide assistance to cash-strapped Air India.
