Mumbai: Backed by a strong growth in key
segments, FMCG major Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) on Tuesday posted
a 5.4 percent jump in net profit for the third quarter ended
December 31 at Rs 649 crore from Rs 615 crore in the year-ago
period.
Net sales during the quarter under review rose to Rs
4,504 crore from Rs 4,307 crore in the year-ago period.
"There has been a strong growth in personal products,
foods and water segments. Actions to restore competitiveness
in soaps and mass laundry yielded positive results," HUL
Chairman Harish Manwani told reporters here.
During the three-month period, home and personal care
business grew by 4 percent with volume growth in soaps,
detergents partly offset by price reductions in the laundary,
Manwani said.
