Lufthansa announces special fares to Europe, America New Delhi: Celebrating its 50th year of operations in the country, German carrier Lufthansa has announced special return fares for Indian travellers to Europe and America.

"The airline is offering return tickets to any destination in Europe for Rs 26,000 and in America for Rs 42,600. The bookings for these special fares are open till Sunday midnight," an airline spokesperson said.

The German carrier started its operations in India from November 1, 1959 when its first scheduled flight from Frankfurt landed at Kolkata after a 30-hour long journey.

"Five decades of involvement with the growth of India's aviation sector provided an excellent base for Lufthansa's success into the future. Our leading position in India proves that we offer the right product at competitive prices," Lufthansa South Asia Director Axel Hilgers said in a statement.

The airline has planned to re-introduce 'Fly-Net', a wireless Internet service, on its long haul flights for India travellers from next year.

Meanwhile, Emirates today unveiled its expansion plan to Asia and the Pacific. The airline is planning new flights to Bangkok, Sydney, Manila and Jakarta.

Emirates will introduce a fourth daily service to Bangkok, a third daily service to Sydney, two additional flights to Manila and one additional service to Jakarta from next month.
