St Lucia: After being eliminated from the third edition of T20 World Cup, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed post-match IPL parties for the debacle.

“The IPL parties after the every match took a toll on the Indian players,” said a visibly upset MS Dhoni while addressing the post match press conference here on Tuesday.

He also said that it’s up to the players how they respect their bodies during the hectic IPL schedule.

“It’s up to the individual player how they respect their bodies and balance the parties with their performance,” said the India skipper.

He also said his side failed to play to its potential.

India needed to win by at least 20 runs against Sri Lanka but lost the Super Eights match by five wickets to crash out of the elite ICC event.

India looked set for big score as they were 90 for one in 10 overs after electing to bat and could score just 163 for five and ended up losing all second round matches.

"I think execution of plans from their bowlers was very good, even with set batsmen we couldn't score freely. Overall, batting is our strength and we should have done better.”

"We didn't perform to our potential. The last 4-5 overs that they bowled really restricted us. We need to improve in quite a few areas," Dhoni said after the match.

Sri Lanka enhanced their chances of making the semifinals with this win and captain Kumar Sangakkara had nothing but praise for his bowlers.

"At the end, we were chasing at least 144. Even I thought India would make a very big score, but the guys came back really well at the back end to cut off the runs and to pick up wickets as well," he said.

"Dilshan really got the momentum back after the early wickets, and we have always talked about how good our young players are, and they showed that today. Whatever happens after this, we can rest assured we have done the best we can."

Angelo Mathews, adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his crucial 46-run knock said, "I had to give a good performance with the bat, I'm glad I did it at the right time."

this is very interesting, since ipl and indians insulted pakistani players in ipl this year, things have gone down for ipl, serious cases of corruption, match fixing and all that, modi the master mind of pakistani insult went down the drain quickly, now team india themselves are blaming ipl for their mistakes,
this my friend is ``karma``

why not to blame ``ipl crorepati babu`s`` did anyone force players to attend the parties, they attended themselves for the sake of wine, wealth and women.

i strongly support missing players like ``irfan pathan`` and now show an exit door to ms dhoni as a captain and srikant for his bad ion.

wakeup bcci atleast after two t20 defeats do action oriented therapy for indian cricket.

dear dhoni, losing does not hert as long as you fight. however that mindset was missing. look at gambhir, yuvi & yusuf, there body language was never positive. yesterday was height when i saw gambhir not even trying to drag his bat and run for the third run. i also believe that piyush chawala is not a bowler of international std. irfan pathan is the right choice compared to his brother. so in case tr is any politics going on because of his inclusion in the team, please do away with it as he is more commited towards the game than yusuf. yusuf is a galli cricketer. get ashwin, pragyan in. don`t be adamant on playing with spinners. try and play shrt pitched balls during practice sessions. how long we are going to see our batting tumbling against fast bowlers? it hurts when micheal clark whistles when his boys are hitting sixes to our spinners. t20 wc is not important, but the nations pride is. so even while losing please remember that...... we love our team.

it was a very disappointing loss to us. i believe it should be enough for msd as captain now. he couldn`t get india into 2 t20 semi’s and even in champion’s trophy. he was lucky to have the current unit built over years by great dada (ganguly) but shows so many errors while captaining the side. two wrong decisions in batting first, stubborn to have his chennai mate murli vijay and his all time favorite jadeja (who was responsible for india`s exit in 2009 t20 wc for slow batting against england) in the side consistently. opting out most experienced zak in a crucial encounter etc. he is very reluctant not to have irfan pathan in the side who was man of the match in 2007 t20 final. even. he is not giving opportunity to robin utappa ahead of his north indians. i strongly suggest, if we want to win the 2011 world cup, the great tendulkar should be given the charge of leading the side. he is hungry and this will be his final appearance in wc. srikant must be sacked immediately as a chief or because he couldn’t get the combination right and karnal (vengsarkar) should be given another opportunity as a chief selctor if india is to qualify for the semis in wc 2011 and even win it. it’s enough for msd now as he is only good enough for giving media interviews these days. my wc 2011 team is: tendulkar (capt.), sehwag, ghambir or utappa, yuraj, rohit or raina, dhoni, yusuf, irfan, harbajan, parveen, zaheer. nehra, amit mishra, kartik, vinay kumar

now he is blaming the parties. but he himself partied hard and was very much part of the idea. he did not protest at that time. so he has only himself to blame.
