Dhoni blames IPL parties for T20 debacle Zeecric Bureau

St Lucia: After being eliminated from the third edition of T20 World Cup, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed post-match IPL parties for the debacle.

“The IPL parties after the every match took a toll on the Indian players,” said a visibly upset MS Dhoni while addressing the post match press conference here on Tuesday.

He also said that it’s up to the players how they respect their bodies during the hectic IPL schedule.

“It’s up to the individual player how they respect their bodies and balance the parties with their performance,” said the India skipper.

He also said his side failed to play to its potential.

India needed to win by at least 20 runs against Sri Lanka but lost the Super Eights match by five wickets to crash out of the elite ICC event.

India looked set for big score as they were 90 for one in 10 overs after electing to bat and could score just 163 for five and ended up losing all second round matches.

"I think execution of plans from their bowlers was very good, even with set batsmen we couldn't score freely. Overall, batting is our strength and we should have done better.”

"We didn't perform to our potential. The last 4-5 overs that they bowled really restricted us. We need to improve in quite a few areas," Dhoni said after the match.

Sri Lanka enhanced their chances of making the semifinals with this win and captain Kumar Sangakkara had nothing but praise for his bowlers.

"At the end, we were chasing at least 144. Even I thought India would make a very big score, but the guys came back really well at the back end to cut off the runs and to pick up wickets as well," he said.

"Dilshan really got the momentum back after the early wickets, and we have always talked about how good our young players are, and they showed that today. Whatever happens after this, we can rest assured we have done the best we can."

Angelo Mathews, adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his crucial 46-run knock said, "I had to give a good performance with the bat, I'm glad I did it at the right time."

india won the t20 world cup, there was no ipl.for the last 2 season ipl is there, before world cup...india loses very badly...shewag is injured just before world cup(both the time, sure because of ipl). still ipl is good.why? ans- money, money and more money.
-every one even a kid knows that yusuf can`t play short ball and genuine pace, then why playing. ans- team thinks that opposition team will give him spinners to hit the big shots.
- jadeja can never hit a six, then why batting at no. 7/8 when team needs a player or two who can hit six and fours at will.
- zaheer feels more pressure when playing for franchise, feels less pressure when playing for india...god save indian team from such commitments.
-gambhir is out of form, can,t convert 1`s into 2`s and into 3`s(as we saw in sri lanka match),then why he is there, why not utthapa.
-yuvraj is out of form too and it seems he is the worst fielder(now a days),then why he is there.

mr. dhoni and co. are interested only in making money at the cost of the feelings of crores of indians. that is why they are all fit and fine during ipl but many of them develop some injury or the other, like tendulkar/sehwag etc. when they have to represent india in international tournaments. but if another ipl is organised, immediately after the first one, they will all be fit and fine again, to make more money.

well i have read every comments whtever the people are saying about the indian cricket team and especially about dhoni.from my point of view i think dhoni is good captain he is good batsman as well.we cannot put any sort of question about his captaincy.he cannot do everything by himself.just have look at yuvraj`s performance.wht happened to him in ipl, when he lost the captaincy after that wht he did in ipl?because of him punjab lost all the matches.now the samething happening to him again.he never understand that he is the key player of indian cricket team.he thinks that he is the star, nobody can kick him out.he thinks that does not matter how he performs,he can play as long as he wants and thats the bigest problem of indian or.even my aussie friends they always ask me why yuvraj is still in the team?i wanna ask one thing to indian ors why they did not pick robin uthapa for t20 world cup?everyone knows that robin showed a massive performance in ipl,he showed that he is a clean hitter.i just can say that if australia had a player like yuvraj he would have been kicked out from even domestic cricket.he just wants captaincy.so pls i request to the or that change ur behaviour and pick a good players.

mr.dhoni, why didnt you say anything about ipl parties after qualifying for super 8??? after losing all 3 matches, you remembered the ipl nights?? dont be a sore loser. own responsibility. the team ion was worng on atleast 3 counts. yuvi, piyush chawla, yusuf pathan were ed on reputation. yusuf pathan is hot air. he has only one stroke and luck plays a huge role in his success. irfan pathan had genuinely improved in his batting atleast and could have scored more than yususf. yuvi should have not been ed even in the 30 probables. sourabh tiwary and uththappa were far better choices, going by the form. piyush chawla`s ion is 50:50. amit mishra is better any day, more on current form. why was badhri, ashwin (of csk)not considered?? on top of all, why the hell did you choose to bat 2nd against both aussie( may be a mistake) and again against windies(arrogance)?... you blame the ipl parties now, then why did you partake in those parties??... atleast own up the loss and apologise to the fans.... that way, you can atleast soothe the anger. own up for your mistake in goofing up the catch of gayle. own up your failure for not ing vinay kumar for the fisrt 2 super eight games. own up your mistake in not sending rohit sharma inplace of yususf in the decider against lanka?? he was atleast better in form? grow up mr.dhoni!

shame on our players, who r just behind money, like previous year they have made whole nation ashamed in front of world, and heads off to pakis who have made their nation proud again, although due to our policiies they had been in isolation since 2 years, but again they have proved that they are loyal to their nation, once again shame on our players, and we must ban ipl and commercialization of cricket due to which we have become a bad name in the world of cricket.

it was jst the batting difference that made india loose the game .
the poor batting performance by dhoni , yuvraj, yusuf who alll could not strike at the last 5 overs .
it was a big mistake by dhoni by nt sending rohit sharma in the position he arrived . rohit could have performed more better than what dhoni did as he played better in the previous inning( possibility) .
it was also the lack of pitch knowledge that made indian batsman not score in the last 5 overs .
the lack of good practice in the caribbean pitches that also made the difference .
we could easily make out the lack of intrest n aggression in the batting which was said to be the strongest armour of the indian team .
the agression what dhoni showed in the ipl 3 final match where he knew that if they did nt made score they would loose
but he lacked the same agression in his batting in the do die match with srilanka and that also in the last 5 overs were one knows that its the striking part .
what ever that i have written is past nw we dont hav any thing in the wct20 any more . so jst let the players learn from there mistake . if they do so specially the captain
