India crush Bangladesh by 10 wickets

Mirpur: India wrapped-up a comprehensive victory over a clueless Bangladesh to make a clean sweep of the 2 Test rubber. The ten-wicket win meant a psychological boost for Dhoni’s men ahead of the series with South Africa. It was Indian Test prowess on display at Mirpur as Zaheer Khan followed-up the success of the tweakers with three wickets in an over and took the last one too, to become the fourth Indian bowler to have a 10-wicket haul overseas to his name. With their penultimate wicket falling with a trail of seven runs, the hosts had no-one to blame but themselves as the scorecard read 312/9 at lunch. They batted amateurishly and gave away the match in just a few minutes into play on a fresh day, ruining the efforts of yesterday as well as the first one. The spin duo of Harbhajan and Pragyan Ojha had started the final fall of the Tigers as they launched a scathing attack on the Bangladesh middle order batsmen, claiming a total of three wickets in quick succession. The duo of Ashraful and Shahadat had helped take the total past 250-run mark as the morning session started with Ishant and Pragyan sharing the cherry. They were left to hold fort yesterday at stumps as the hosts managed a decent 228/3 courtesy Tamim Iqbal’s valiant 151 and Junaid Siddique’s handy 55.Zaheer Khan had ended Day 3 after finally managing a couple of wickets in the post-tea session. The bleak wicket tally of the Indian bowlers was largely due to the efforts of the above said batsmen and they gave a glimpse of the kind of temperament their side had to possess collectively to start giving some competition to the best of the opponents. Sadly for them, there is still a lot more to be learnt in the Test arena.
