New Delhi: A 24-year-old youth was killed in a freak accident when he was accidentally shot by his colleague at a banquet hall near northwest Delhi's Gujranwala Town area on GT Karnal Road in the wee hours here on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Ramdayal was caught from the banquet hall itself while the security guard whose gun was used by him is on the run.
The incident took place around 3 AM when Kailash and Ramdayal, who worked as helpers at the Rajwada Palace banquet hall were playing with the gun of the hall's security guard, identified as Jeetendra.
"As Kailsah and Ramdayal were poking each other with the double barrel gun, a shot went off which hit Kailash who collapsed on the ground. Seeing this, Ram Dayal, and the guard, Jeetendra panicked," said a police official.
Jeetendra then purportedly called up the head of security arrangements at the banquet halls to inform about the incident. The security official called police which rushed Kailash to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
During police investigation, the manager of the banquet hall, Sanjay revealed that Jeetendra is a resident of Etah district of Uttar Pradesh and was appointed as a guard there.
Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab Jeetendra.
Once Jeetendra is caught, only then we would be able to ascertain the status of the gun's license. Later in the morning, a team of FSL and crime team also reached the spot and picked up circumstantial evidence, he added.
