New Delhi: At 80, Prem Kumar Khanda proved
to be too strong for a young man who was fleeing after
allegedly stealing a man`s wallet in a central Delhi locality
today morning.
The incident took place in Ajmeri Gate at around 10:30 am
when Kaviraj, a Nepali cook working in a hotel, deboarded a
blueline bus.
As he alighted, one Shehzad allegedly stole his wallet
and started running, police said.
The victim gave chase and managed to catch him but
Shehzad managed to hand over the wallet to his associate
Bunty, a senior police official said.
Noticing the commotion, Khanda, who was passing by went
to the road and on seeing Bunty fleeing, caught him by the
arm.
"He caught Bunty... overpowered him and held on to him
till the police came. He then handed Bunty over to police,"
the official said.
Khanda, a resident of Paharganj, is also a Special
Police Officer (SPO) with Delhi Police.
