New Delhi: Kishan Khokkar, brother of a
former city councillor Balwant Khokkar, facing trial along
with former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots
case relating to the killing of six persons, today told a city
court that the ex-MP had not provoked him or any mob to kill
Sikhs.
Additional Sessions Judge Sunita Gupta concluded the
recording of statement of Kishan Khokkar, a driver, who said
it is incorrect that Kumar had instigated him and other
co-accused to "kill all the Sikhs and to participate in 1984
violence".
He said he was falsely implicated in the case.
"It is incorrect to say that Sajjan Kumar was
provoking the mob saying no sardar (Sikh) should be left
alive and that all their remaining houses should be burnt
down. Sajjan had not asked anyone to kill all those who gave
shelter to Sikhs," Khokkar said.
He denied Sajjan had ever provoked the mob to "kill
all Sikhs as they had killed his (Sajjan) mother (Indira
Gandhi)".
"It is incorrect that we (accused) were in a mob,
holding iron rods and chanting slogans--Long live Indira
Gandhi, kill all the Sikhs," said Khokkar.
The judge posed a total of 277 questions to Khokkar
who replied to most saying either "I do not know" or "it is
incorrect".
