AAP gets 54.3% vote share; BJP's dips by one percent

It was a double feat for AAP, which not only pulverised the Opposition by bagging 67 out of 70 Delhi Assembly seats but also nearly doubled its vote share since last elections to a phenomenal 54.3 per cent.

New Delhi: It was a double feat for AAP, which not only pulverised the Opposition by bagging 67 out of 70 Delhi Assembly seats but also nearly doubled its vote share since last elections to a phenomenal 54.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, BJP's vote share dipped by one per cent to 32.2 as compared to last year's vote share.

In fact, the primary reason behind the massive rise in the party's vote share from 29.49 per cent during the 2013 Assembly polls to 54.2 per cent in this election, could be attributed to Congress' worst ever debacle in Delhi.

Congress which had bagged eight seats with a vote share of 24.55 per cent could manage to get only 9.7 per cent of the total vote share.

While BJP's vote share dropped only by one percentage point from 33.07 per cent in 2013 to 32.2 per cent this time, the party's seat count went down from 31 to a paltry 3.

The 25 per cent rise in AAP's vote share has resulted in increase of 39 seats as the party got 67.
