AAP may secure 19-25 seats in Delhi: Opinion poll

New Delhi: Aam Admi Party may secure between 19 and 25 seats in the 70-member Delhi assembly which could put it in the role of a king-maker as neither BJP nor Congress is projected to get majority of its own, according to a new opinion poll.

It said Congress may secure between 19 and 25 seats while BJP has been projected to lead with 22 to 28 seats in the December 4 assembly polls.

2,507 eligible voters were surveyed for the opinion poll between October 16 and 24. The survey was conducted across 28 constituencies.

The opinion poll said Congress is likely to get a vote share of 27 per cent, a drop of 13.3 per cent from what it had got in 2008 polls, while BJP may secure 29 per cent votes. AAP has been projected to secure 28 per cent vote share.
The poll said AAP`s Arvind Kejriwal emerged as the top choice Chief Ministership with 25 per cent support while Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has been preferred by 16 per cent.

It said the image of Dikshit has gone down significantly as 49 people said they are dissatisfied with her performance as Chief Minister. 47 per cent of those surveyed said they were still satisfied with her performance.

62 per cent respondents rated Congress as "corrupt" while only 1 per cent said they felt AAP is also corrupt. 63 per cent respondents said they perceived Congress as a party which favours nepotism.

As per the findings, 53 per cent respondents said they are not satisfied with Delhi`s government`s performance while 43 per cent said they are satisfied.
