Alka Lamba case: DCW issues summons to Delhi Police officials

Delhi Commission for Women on Thursday issued summons to DCP North and SHO of Kashmere Gate police station in connection with an attack on Aam Aadmi Party MLA Alka Lamba on last Sunday.

New Delhi: Delhi Commission for Women on Thursday issued summons to DCP North and SHO of Kashmere Gate police station in connection with an attack on Aam Aadmi Party MLA Alka Lamba on last Sunday.

The DCW has asked both the police officials to appear before it on August 17, as per ANI.

Lamba suffered a minor head injury on Sunday after a stone was pelted at her while she was interacting with homeless people near Kashmere Gate during an anti-drug drive.

Teenager Jatin, who works at a sweet shop, was arrested following Lamba's complaint.

Police said that Lamba, an MLA from Chandni Chowk constituency, sustained simple blunt injury on her head and was discharged from hospital after being administered first aid.

In her complaint to police, Lamba said that Jatin had lobbed a stone when she opposed the encroachment by some shopkeepers in the Kashmere Gate area.

"At the time of the attack, Lamba was outside Shiv Mishthan Bhandar, where Jatin works," IANS quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma as saying.
