Arvind Kejriwal responds to EC's notice, gives detailed explanation

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has submitted a detailed explanation in response to the notice issued by the Election Commission over false allegations against Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay and his 'bribe' remark.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has submitted a detailed explanation in response to the notice issued by the Election Commission over false allegations against Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay and his 'bribe' remark.

"I have submitted a detailed explanation in response to the notice issued by the Election Commission," said Kejriwal here on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, the Election Commission had issued a notice against Kejriwal for violating the Model Code of Conduct by making allegations against Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay.

This step by the Commission came on the heels of yet another notice served to the AAP chief over his controversial 'bribe' remark, after Congress leader KC Mittal filed a complaint to the Election Commission for the same.

Kejriwal, while addressing a rally in the national capital last Sunday, had suggested to the people of Delhi to accept bribes from other political parties, but cast their votes for him.

On Monday, the Election Commission had sent a notice to Kejriwal for the same and had asked for an explanation by Thursday.

The former Delhi chief minister had also levelled graft allegations against Upadhyay, and had accused the BJP of attempting to incite communal violence in Delhi.
