Arvind Kejriwal will have to give in writing to reject Z Plus security: MHA sources

New Delhi: Even as security preparations are at its helm at Ram Leela Maidan here for Arvind Kejriwal's oath taking ceremony tomorrow, the MHA sources on Friday said that the CM-designate will have to give in writing that he doesn't wish to accept Z Plus security.

According to ANI, MHA sources said, “The ministry gives security according to threat perception, level of security being given according to post (Delhi CM).”

“Arvind Kejriwal will have to give in writing that he doesn't wish to accept Z Plus security,” MHA added in its statement.

The development comes a day after Aam Aadmi Party had said that even as the police enhanced Kejriwal's security after the party's landslide victory in Delhi Assembly polls, the Delhi CM-designate will not accept Z Plus security for him.

"Arvind Kejriwal will not take Z plus security because it hinders his interaction with the people. We have not asked for any security until now, so there is no question of denying it. If he has to accept the Z Plus security then the police should give solid reasons and the level of threat for that kind of security," AAP leader Ashutosh had said.

The Uttar Pradesh Police had also enhanced security at Kejriwal's Kaushambi resident. Cops added that he will be provided round-the-clock security by 12 commandos armed with automatic guns.

The AAP chief has been averse to taking security. Even when he was the chief minister in his previous term, he had denied security, but the police continued to provide the cover.
