Bag with arms and ammunition found abandoned in JNU

The bag contained one pistol and 7 cartridges.

New Delhi: Amid the tense atmosphere in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) over the missing case of student Najeeb Ahmed, the bag with arms and ammunition was found abandoned in the campus on Sunday night.

Last night when security guards were patrolling the area near the north gate of JNU campus they found an abandoned bag. On opening it they found that it contained one pistol and seven cartridges.

The police were informed and later a case of arms act was registered.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has launched a massive manhunt to trace Najeeb Ahmed, whose disappearance has become a big political issue.

President Pranab Mukherjee has now sought a report from the home ministry on the case.
