New Delhi: Two-year-old Falak, who is battling
for life for the past 38 days at a hospital here after being
admitted in a battered condition, continues to remain critical
but stable, doctors said on Friday.
Admitted in the ICU of the AIIMS Trauma Centre, doctors
said that she has shown no signs of improvement yet and
continues to remain unconscious and on ventilator support.
"Her condition is the same as it was yesterday. She is
still critical but stable. With the nature of injury suffered
by her at this age, it will take some time to recover," a
doctor attending on her said.
Falak was brought to the hospital on January 18 with
severe head injuries, broken arms, bite marks all over her
body and cheeks branded with hot iron. Even after undergoing
five life saving surgeries since then, the child has not shown
any improvement.
Doctors said they were contemplating all options to
gradually wean her off the ventilator so that she can start
breathing on her own again.
Moved by the plight of Falak, Indians as well people from
the US and Canada have approached doctors, expressing their
desire to adopt her.
