New Delhi: AuThe CBI on Thursday arrested a senior
official of Bharat Coking Coal Limited in Dhanbad, Jharkhand
while he was allegedly offering a bribe of Rs five lakh to an
officer of the agency.
A General Manager of BCCL was arrested for allegedly
offering bribe to an officer of the CBI for getting favours in
the on-going joint surprise check being conducted jointly by
the CBI and the Vigilance Department.
The surprise check is being conducted in the Regional
Open Cast Project (ROCP) of Kustore area, BCCL, Dhanbad on the
allegation of mixing of soil and stone in the coal stock to
cover up the shortage.
"The accused tried to influence the joint surprise check
by offering Rs five lakh as bribe and was arrested while
offering the bribe. This joint surprise check was started on
August 2 and the same is continued till date," a spokesperson
of the CBI said here.
The searches at the residential premises of the accused
are being conducted, she said.
