New Delhi: BJP on Tuesday demanded Delhi Chief
Minister Sheila Dikshit`s resignation in the wake of the city
Lokayukta indicting her for "misrepresenting" facts about low
cost flats in the run-up to 2008 Assembly polls and making a
recommendation to the President to censure her.
"We demand the resignation of Shiela Dikshit on moral
and legal grounds as she is running the Government in a
despotic manner and has made false promises to the people for
securing votes during elections," Delhi BJP president Vijender
The BJP also alleged that the Congress has been
misleading the people of Delhi by announcing schemes that lack
authenticity and has spent crores of rupees on advertising
these schemes to get political mileage.
"We have been repeatedly saying that the government is
misleading people, now the Lokayukta has put a stamp on our
allegations," Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay
Kumar Malhotra said.
The city Lokayukta yesterday slammed Dikshit for
"misrepresenting" facts by announcing in the run up to 2008
Assembly polls that 60,000 low-cost flats were ready to be
handed over to the beneficiaries and recommended to the
President that she should be censured.
The BJP also criticised the government on the issue
of regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the capital and
threatened to hit the streets if the government did not take
action in this regard.
