BJP demands Dikshit`s resignation for CWG `bunglings`

BJP on Monday renewed its demand for resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the wake of Shunglu Committee`s report blaming her for bunglings in several Commonwealth Games projects.

New Delhi: BJP on Monday renewed its demand
for resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the
wake of Shunglu Committee`s report blaming her for bunglings
in several Commonwealth Games projects.

City BJP President Vijender Gupta said the Home
Ministry will not be able to take any action against those
found guilty by the Shunglu panel if Dikshit continues in her
office.

The Prime Minister`s Office has referred the Shunglu
Committee findings on alleged irregularities in executing
various infrastructure projects related to Commonwealth Games
by Delhi Government to the Home Ministry for further action.

"The Home Ministry will not be able to take any action
if Dikshit continues in office. In fact the Shunglu committee
has found her directly responsible for bungling of Rs 1,500
crores in CWG spendings," Gupta said, reacting to PMO
instruction to the Home Ministry.

He said a BJP delegation will soon meet Union Home
Minister P Chidambaram requesting him to recommend to the
President and the Prime Minister to remove Dikshit.

"It is the interest of justice and morality Dikshit
should immediately resign from her post. Only after that
impartial action is possible," he said.

Gupta alleged that "Dikshit changed the rules of
finance department to facilitate the bungling and took over
all the financial powers."

He alleged that after taking over financial power, she
awarded contract of about Rs 120 crores to her six favourite
contractors when these contractors did not have experience of
such works.
