BJP protests against molestation incident in school

Delhi BJP termed molestation of a 10-year-old girl by a teacher at a southeast Delhi school as "shameful" and demanded an apology from its principal, besides seeking better security for girl students.

New Delhi: Delhi BJP on Thursday termed the alleged molestation of a 10-year-old girl by a teacher at a southeast Delhi school as "shameful" and demanded an apology from its principal, besides seeking better security for girl students.
BJP leader Vijay Jolly, along with party activists, today met the Headmistress of the school and its manager and registered strong protest over the incident.

The protesters also demanded an explanation and a public apology from the school principal.

The teacher, Nirmal Tamang, allegedly confessed to molesting around 20 girls during his eight years at the school and was arrested on November 12.

Tamang, a native of Meghalaya, used to teach students of Class V to Class XI. He often used to force girls to stay even after school hours on one pretext or the other and molested them. He even misbehaved with girls as punishment, it is alleged.

Jolly said such crimes against women have given a bad name to Delhi.

He demanded that all public and private schools in the city should provide a regular lady teacher counsellor for interacting with girl students on weekly basis.

In order to imbibe a sense of security among the school girls, police should keep a watch on all girls schools.
