New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Thursday staged a protest against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party over the Value Added Tax (VAT) hike on petrol and diesel.
The prices of petrol and diesel have been reduced by two rupees a litre. The new rates came into effect last night.
Now, petrol will cost 66 rupees 90 paise per litre in Delhi, 71 rupees 57 paise in Kolkata, 71 rupees 97 paise in Mumbai and 67 rupees 29 paise in Chennai.
For Diesel, consumer will have to pay 49 rupees 72 paise per litre in Delhi, 52 rupees 75 paise in Kolkata, 55 rupees 15 paise in Mumbai and 51 rupees 8 paise in Chennai.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Government has increased the VAT on petrol from present 20 to 25 percent and on diesel from 12.5 to 16.6 percent effective from midnight last night.
