New Delhi: With the objective of making its
legislators more effective in Parliament and in their
constituencies, BJP will hold a two-day workshop here from
Friday for its first-time MPs.
Named "Abhyas Varg", the workshop for 70 first-time BJP
MPs will be inaugurated by Parliamentary Party Chief L K
Advani on August 28. He will also speak on "history,
development and contribution of BJP to the nation".
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj will
address the new law-makers on "how to be an effective MP"
while former Lok Sabha member Ram Naik will speak on "some
useful tips for MPs".
Senior BJP leader Bal Apte will speak on "MPs` role in
Since Nitin Gadkari took over as president of BJP in
December, he has emphasised on training of party MPs and
members of the party. A dedicated National Training Cell, led
by Alok Kumar, has been formed for this purpose by BJP.
On August 29, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, head of RSS centre
Rambodhi Malghi Prabodhini, will make a power-point
presentation on "Management Techniques for Political work".
Sahasrabuddhe has already held some training sessions for
party leaders at his institute, located near Thane.
This will be followed by Deputy Leader of BJP in Lok
Sabha Gopinath Munde holding a session of members from the
Lower House. A similar session will be chaired by Deputy
Leader of BJP in Rajya Sabha S S Ahluwalia for members from
the Upper House.
Munde and Ahluwalia will talk about "effective
participation in Parliament and coordination".
Incidentally, Munde himself is a first time MP as most of
his political life has been spent in Maharashtra where he has
also served as a Deputy Chief Minister.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley will
address all first-time MPs from both Houses on "MPs and the
BJP President Nitin Gadkari will then hold a "vartalap"
(conversation)" session with these MPs. The new legislators
can ask any question, give suggestion, comments or seek
clarifications from their party chief here.
Gadkari will also address the concluding session.
Other than these brainstorming sessions, BJP MPs will
also have to attend a yoga session early morning on both days
and will be taught how to lead a healthy lifestyle by taking
time out from their hectic schedule.
