Brave heart pays with his life for helping cops

Harinder Singh alias Sunny, a brave young man who was seriously injured on Saturday while helping the Delhi Police chase a rogue constable, succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.

New Delhi: Harinder Singh alias Sunny, a brave young man who was seriously injured on Saturday while helping the Delhi Police chase a rogue constable, succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.

After battling for his life for almost 48 hours, Sunny died after all his vital organs failed.

Sunny, 24, had bled profusely after he was shot in the neck by Head Constable Ajay Singh Tomar during the chase.

Tomar was trying to flee after shooting dead a businessman.

The incident took place in Lahori Gate at around 9.00 pm on Saturday.

Tomar allegedly shot dead Amarjeet Chaddha, who was in the business of selling dry fruits, and later fired at and grievously injured Sunny who was helping Head Constable Surender Tyagi in chasing him.

Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for Sunny for his brave act.

The Delhi Police have already dismissed Tomar from service.

"Tomar has been dismissed from service. We have invoked Article 311(2) to dismiss him from service without an inquiry," a senior police official said.
