Car injures five policemen in Delhi near Akshardham temple

Five policemen were injured early Thursday when a car hit them near Akshardham temple in the capital, police said.

New Delhi: Five policemen were injured early Thursday when a car hit them near Akshardham temple in the capital, police said.

The incident took place at 2 a.m. while a police picket was checking vehicles and a car coming from Ghaziabad hit the five policemen. Police said the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

All the injured were rushed to Delhi`s Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hospital. While three policemen were discharged from the hospital, one was referred to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and the other to a private nursing home, police said.

The driver of the car has been arrested.
