New Delhi: CBI has filed a chargesheet
against a Chief Medical Officer and a head constable of
central para-military force in a Delhi court for allegedly
seeking money from a prospective candidate to ensure his
selection in Border Security Force (BSF) as the constable.
The probe agency sought prosecution of then Chief Medical
Officer S K Shakya and Head Constable Narender Kumar Mehta
under Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code.
In the chargesheet filed in the court of Pradeep Chaddah,
CBI alleged Mehta (39), in conspiracy with Dr Shakya (51), who
were posted here, demanded Rs 50,000 from a man to ensure
selection of his brother as constable (ministerial) in BSF
last year.
Narender contacted complainant Durga Singh on July 28
last year allegedly claiming that his younger brother Kapil
who had applied for the post could not clear the medical
examinations.
"He promised Kapil`s selection if Singh paid Rs 50,000 to
Dr Shakya," CBI alleged.
Following a complaint, CBI laid a trap and arrested
Narender while taking Rs 20,000 from Singh on July 30.
The probe agency then made Narender to contact Dr Shakya
who was also later arrested from a place here.
Both the accused were granted bail on September 29 last
year.
CBI listed 25 witnesses to prove its charges against the
duo, besides claiming the possession of recorded conversation
between the accused and the complainant as evidence against
them.
