Census enumerators thrashed in east Delhi

Two MCD school teachers, who were on official duty conducting census survey, were allegedly beaten up by two people in east Delhi over an altercation, police said on Thursday.

on official duty conducting census survey, were allegedly
beaten up by two people in east Delhi over an altercation,
police said on Thursday.

Two people -- Rishipal and Umesh -- have been arrested
for allegedly thrashing the teachers in West Karawal Nagar
in east Delhi yesterday, they said.
The teachers -- Arvind Kumar (45) and Sunil Kumar (47) --
were conducting census survey in the locality when the
incident took place.

It all started when Arvind went to the house of Satyawati
Devi in the area seeking details about her family for census
enumeration.

When he started posing some questions to Devi, her son
Rishipal allegedly abused him and started beating him up,
police said, adding Rishipal`s friend Umesh also started
trashing the duo later.

When Sunil came to the rescue of his colleague Arvind,
he was also beaten up, they said.

"Both Rishipal and Umesh have been arrested," police
said.
The victims were admitted to a hospital, where they
received treatment for their injuries. Later, they were
discharged, police said.
