New Delhi: The Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of India will soon have a new office complex here and all offices of central information commission will be housed under a single roof, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said on Tuesday.

Jitendra Singh, who met newly-appointed CIC Vijai Sharma here, said the land has been allotted for the new office complex and the construction is expected to cost Rs.42.53 crore.

He said the Narendra Modi government was committed to bringing "in maximum transparency" and facilitating easy and conducive functioning of the office of the CIC was a step in that direction.

Jitendra Singh said that emphasis on e-governance and placing relevant information in public domain has considerably improved transparency as well as accountability.

He said that a mechanism will be evolved for early disposal of right to information applications.

"The very fact that the RTI applications are increasing day by day is also a tribute to healthy democratic functioning and the readiness of the government to respond to every request for information to be placed in public domain," he said.

According to an official release, Sharma informed the minister that various methods were being worked out to reduce the pendency of RTI applications.

He also discussed the plans to observe the 10th anniversary of enactment of RTI Act on October 12 this year.
