New Delhi: It was a sunny but cold morning for Delhiites on Wednesday as the minimum temperature remained below the normal level while a layer of fog covered the city skylines in the early hours.

The low was recorded at 5.8 degree Celsius, a degree below normal for this time of the season but 1.4 degree C more than yesterday's 4.4 degree Celsius.

There was a shallow fog cover for sometime early in the morning.

The maximum day temperature in the last 24 hours was recorded at 22.7 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees above normal.

The weatherman said there will be shallow fog in the morning tomorrow and the minimum and maximum ranging between 7 degrees and 20 degrees, respectively.

Delhi has experienced pleasant weather in the past few days despite icy winds blowing across the city.

The mercury had risen to 24.3 degrees Celsius last week.

The weatherman had earlier said that warm weather conditions would be short-lived, and mercury could dip over the weekend following snowfall in the Himalayan region and rains in the foothills.

The piercing chill and icy winds that had persisted for several days cleared away on Monday when the maximum temperature rose to 19.2 degrees Celsius, after keeping below 15 degrees for almost a week.

The capital has recorded at least five cold-related deaths since December 26.
