New Delhi": Security has been beefed up in North East Delhi's Sri Ram Colony following tension between two communities in the area over an event organized by local unit of RSS at a park.

Police said that vigil has been enhanced in the area after a clash had taken place in the area following holding of a "shakha" by local unit of RSS at the park on June 28.

"We are keeping a close watch on the situation even though there is no chance of any communal clash. It is a dispute related to sharing of a public space in the congested area," said Jt Commissioner of Police Eastern Range Sanjay Beniwal.

They said a group of young boys from the minority community were playing badminton at the park when some RSS volunteers had gone there to hold the shakha.

As per an FIR lodged at the Khajurikhas Police station, a clash had taken place when the boys refused to vacate the park for RSS to hold the programme.

The local minority community members alleged a programme has been organised by a right-wing organisation at the park on July 17-19 which conicides with Eid.

Police said minority community traditionallty offers Namaz at the park and they were apprehensive over the programme, fearing it has been organised to disrupt Eid celebrations.
