Comply its earlier order on placement agencies: Delhi HC to Govt

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the city government to comply with its earlier order to register all placement agencies, maintain salary records of girls who were employed through them, till the Delhi Private Placement Agencies (Regulation) Bill is passed by it.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the city government to comply with its earlier order to register all placement agencies, maintain salary records of girls who were employed through them, till the Delhi Private Placement Agencies (Regulation) Bill is passed by it.
A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice Manmohan asked the city government to follow its order passed on December 24, 2010 order till the bill is approved by the Delhi cabinet.
The bench passed the order after the government counsel sought more time for the approval of the draft bill as the new government is yet to be formed in Delhi.

Earlier, Delhi government had told the bench that 1754 placement agencies have been registered under Delhi Shops and Establishments Act.

It had further mentioned in an affidavit that "a bill, The Delhi Private Placement Agencies (Regulation) Bill, has been drafted after incorporating suggestions of various stakeholders.
