New Delhi: Congress MLA from Okhla Asif Mohammad Khan raised slogans against the Aam Aadmi Party government and created ruckus at a press conference of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday.

Reports stated that the Delhi CM walked out in a huff after Khan raised slogans against the AAP for indulging in vote-bank politics and claimed that Kejriwal had made false promises regarding a probe into the Batla House encounter.

The Congress MLA was escorted out of the Secretariat by officers and AAP volunteers.
Earlier, at the press meet, on the completion of one month of his government, Kejriwal patted his own back claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party government had managed to bring down corruption in government institutions in the city.

Speaking to the scribes, Kejriwal said, “Sting operations to catch corrupt officials have worked. People are saying work at government offices is now more efficient. Our volunteers visited different departments and except VAT, other departments have reduced corruption."

He however maintained that such claims needed to be vetted and suggested that a study by an independent body like Transparency International could help ascertain the same. “It would be great if an organisation could do a study on whether corruption has reduced in Delhi or not,” he added.

On the bill to appoint an ombudsman in the capital city, he said, “The Delhi Janlokpal bill will most probably be taken up by cabinet tomorrow and in 10 days, will be passed by the assembly.”

Reiterating the need for a fresh probe into the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 and the role of some Congress leaders in the massacre, the Delhi CM said, “The issue of 1984 riots probe will be taken up before the cabinet; if approved we`ll go to L-G for clearance.”
Batting for rain water harvesting in Delhi, CM said the need of the hour was to tap natural resources. He said that each year during monsoon, the Yamuna seems to be in spate and streets overflow with rainwater, but all this simply flows into the gutter. He said there was a need to harvest rainwater and after the Millennium Bus depot is shifted, the space could be utilised for this.

Kejriwal also questioned the functioning of Delhi Commission for Women chief Barkha Singh and hinted at a political bias in her appointment and approach. “Barkha Singh of DCW is a former Congress MLA,how can she run the DCW independently?,” he asked and hinted that eminent Hindi novelist Maitreyi Pushpa could be appointed to the post.
