Congress questions Harsh Vardhan`s administrative capability

New Delhi: With BJP aggressively projecting its Chief Ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan as an able administrator, Congress on Tuesday questioned his administrative capability and took a dig at him describing him an "RSS nominee" who will remain a "CM-in-waiting".
Rejecting Vardhan`s crticism of the Congress government in Delhi, Revenue Minister Arvinder Singh, referring to the squabbling ion BJP in the run up to announcement of the Chief Ministerial candidate, said people of Delhi will never support a party "riddled with infighting".
Questioning BJP`s contention that Vardhan had played a key role in eradicating polio in Delhi, Singh termed him as a "non-performer" who could not even set up a "single hospital" in Delhi when he was Health Minister from 1993 to 1998 in BJP government in the city.
"He could not set up a single hospital in Delhi as Health Minister. BJP has been talking about his contribution to polio eradication in Delhi. It was a centrally-sponsored scheme. How can he be given credit for it"? said Singh at a press conference along with his cabinet colleagues Harun Yusuf and Raj Kumar Chouhan.
Singh claimed the drop-out rate of students in schools had gone up when Vardhan was given responsibility of education department and he did not contribute anything significant as a minister in the BJP government.
"Can he tell people of Delhi his contribution to the city as a minister. He did nothing. The drop-out rate had increased after he was given charge of Education department. People had died of dropsy when he was Health Minister," Singh said.
Ridiculing BJP for its infightings over the Chief Ministerial candidature, he said a faction-ridden party cannot win the polls and claimed that Vardhan was annointed to post at the behest of the RSS.
"It is now clear that everything in BJP is dictated by RSS. RSS was behind making Narendra Modi as BJP`s Prime Ministerial candidate. It was behind Vardhan`s choice also. Vardhan will remain CM-in-waiting," Singh said.
Referring to BJP`s rule in Delhi, he asked why the party had to change chief ministers three times in a span of five years. The BJP government between 1993 and 1998 saw three chief ministers --Madan Lal Khurana (1993-1996), Sahib Singh Verma (1996-1998) and Sushma Swaraj (1998).
"Why they had to change three chief ministers? They do not have any leader now to match Sheila Dikshit`s stature. We will have to see whether they change the Chief Ministerial candidate," said Singh.
Following his annointment as BJP`s Chief Ministerial candidate, Vardhan has been attacking the Congress government on range of issues including price rise, law and order situation and allegations of corruption.
