Ghaziabad: Several Congress workers on Saturday staged a protest against Union Minister Giriraj Singh for his remarks on Congress president Sonia Gandhi, at Aradhna Cinema trisection here.

The protest was led by organising secretary, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Narendra Rathi, former minister Satish Sharma and Harendra Kasana, president of district Congress committee.

Addressing the workers Rathi alleged that BJP leaders are diverting the attention of masses from real issues by making such comments on Congress leaders.

"BJP minister Singh has proved by commenting on Sonia Gandhi that he is not a capable minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi must sack him from cabinet with immediate effect," he said.

Kasana said Congress will continue its protest against Singh till the moment he is not sacked from the Union cabinet.

Later, the Congress activists burnt an effigy of Singh.
