Mainpuri: A constable was killed and
two home guards seriously injured after their vehicle was hit by a truck during an attempt to intercept it in Bewar area, police said here Monday.
"On a tip off, a highway patrol jeep attempted to
intercept the truck loaded with 36 cows and calves on
Kishni-Bewar late last night," Deputy Superintendent of Police
Brijesh Kumar said.
Instead of halting the truck its driver hit the police
jeep injuring constable Hasan Mohammad and two home guards
seriously, he added.
Mohammad and the home guards were rushed to the
district hospital where the constable, who suffered head
injury, was declared brought dead, DSP said.
The truck driver Islam has been arrested, SP Happy
Guptan said adding that the cattle stock was being transported
from Etawah to a slaughter house in Rampur.
