New Delhi: CPI(M) today welcomed the withdrawal of the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP) in Delhi University, saying such major proposals should always be implemented after a proper discussion with all stakeholders including the students and the teachers.
"It has finally happened after a great degree of agony and inconvenience to students, their parents, the teaching and the university community as a whole," senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said.
He told PTI from Mumbai that "unlike on previous occasions when the Vice Chancellor literally rammed the (FYUP) proposal down the throat of the university, UGC and the country, any such proposal should be implemented only after proper discussion with all relevant stakeholders. Only then should it be taken forward."
Maintaining that no further time should be lost now, Yechury said the admission process must be resumed immediately.
