New Delhi: A contractor associated with
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Friday promised in the Supreme
Court to compensate with a brand new car a person whose luxury
vehicle was damaged when its crane had fallen over it.
A bench comprising Justices H S Bedi and C K Prasad
was informed by M/s CEC SOMA JV, a contractor of DMRC, that it
was ready to compensate Shashidharan with a brand new car in
the place of his damaged one.
It decided not to go on with the hearing on the
petition after Wills Mathews, counsel for the victim, agreed
to the offer of the DMRC contractor.
Shashidharan, Managing Director of M/S BE Expositions
Pvt LTD, had approached the Supreme Court after the Delhi High
Court had dismissed his plea.
A crane had fallen on the car at Jorbagh at around 10
pm on May 9 last year when Shashidharan, along with his family
members, was travelling, which caused extensive damages to it.
